    1. How do I get started volunteering with Girls Inc. of Orange County?
      1. If you are interested in volunteering on a weekly basis, the first step is to attend a Girls Inc. 101 orientation. At the orientation, you will learn about the organization’s history, our current programs that are being offered, and the organization’s volunteer policies.     2. What is the difference between a volunteer and intern at Girls Inc. of Orange County?
      1. We consider the titles volunteer and intern as synonyms at Girls Inc. of Orange County. The only difference being that an intern is required to submit hours or receive an evaluation for credit or recognition. Both interns and volunteers are able to complete the same activities.
    3. What is the time commitment?
      1. For weekly volunteer opportunities:
        • School year- minimum commitment of one day a week for 12 weeks
        • Summer- minimum commitment of one day a week for 6 weeks
      2. For one-time volunteer, community or corporate volunteer opportunities, the time commitment will vary.
    4. How long does it take to begin as a Girls Inc. volunteer?
      1. After you attend an orientation and submit the necessary paperwork, it typically takes 1-2 weeks to begin your volunteer shifts.
    5. Do I have to attend an orientation?
      1. If you plan on volunteering on a weekly basis you must attend a Girls Inc. 101 orientation.
      2. If you are interested in less frequent volunteer opportunities, you are not required to attend an orientation. Please contact us at volunteers@girlsinc-oc.org or (949) 646-7181 for more information.
    6. Is there an application process?
      1. Yes, but only for weekly volunteers. The application materials will be given to you at the end of the Girls Inc. 101 orientation.
    7. Do I need a TB test or Live Scan?
      1. The Live Scan background check is a safety measure for the protection of the girls we serve at Girls Inc. of Orange County. It is mandatory for volunteers that are 18 and older to have completed the Live Scan process prior to working with the participants. The live scan form will be handed out at the volunteer orientation.
      2. TB tests are required for certain program sites. This information will be covered during the Girls Inc. 101 orientation.
    8. Can males volunteer or intern with Girls Inc. of Orange County?
      1. Yes, males are able to volunteer or intern with Girls Inc. of Orange County. While we primarily offer programs to girls in a girl-only environment, we believe it is important for girls to have positive male role models within their lives either as Girls Inc. staff or volunteers.
    9. Are there weekend, holidays and special event volunteer opportunities?
      1. Yes, but they are not very frequent. Please contact us at volunteers@girlsinc-oc.org or (949) 646-7181 to be added to our weekend, holidays and special event volunteer contact list.
    10. What are the Girls Inc. of Orange County age requirements?
      1. The minimum age requirement is 14 years old (freshman in high school).
    11. How can my corporate and/or community group be involved with Girls Inc. of Orange County?
